Trait Offshore Research Synthesis
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Trait database workshop
We will hold an in person workshop to discuss with experts the selection of biological traits that relate to vulnerability (resistance and adaptive capacity) and to score the species traits. Stay tuned for information on the workshop!
Workshop outputs:
-
Trait database - Peer-review, open-access trait database

Introductory workshop
A series of workshops were hosted in July - September 2023 to consult experts on the goals of the Traitors project. We wanted to identify potential biodiversity targets, essential monitoring variables, and priority locations for consideration as a core set of possible monitoring data and sites in the bioregion. We also aimed to identify relevant multidisciplinary Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) and marine Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) that should be collected concurrently with each other, to address specific purposes.
Workshop outputs:
-
Workshop report - Overview of introductory workshops. Outline key points discussed by invited experts during workshop sessions.
-
Monitoring suggestions - collate a list of potential monitoring variables, monitoring methods, and biodiversity targets for the bioregion

Species occurrence database
A full list of species inhabiting the offshore Pacific Bioregion will be created compiling historical data records and working with collaborators.
